Acting as play

Picture
A Clown & Scene Study Class

Bridging the gap between two seemingly different approaches to actor training, Acting as Play will challenge you to harness the clown’s relentless pursuit of fun in order to take big risks before feeling “ready”; get out of your brain and into your body; embrace the precarious pleasure of not needing to know what’s coming next; and most importantly, to lead with hope regardless of the inevitable disasters laid out in the text.

Using a mix of clown exercises and scene work, this class meets every student where they are in their growth and is designed as an on-going practice where new students will jump in every 8 weeks, and the (new) old-timers may take another go round on the carousel to be encouraged and provoked to go deeper and deeper.
"You should take this class!"
Christopher Bayes, Master Clown Teacher
Head of Physical Acting at the Yale School of Drama
